PAL Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Police Athletic League Center (PAL) will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the center’s new youth football field on at 3 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the center, 1801 White, Kansas City, Mo. Refreshments will follow the ribbon cutting.

Story Time and Craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. This story time group promotes literacy in children with the participation of caring family members. This week’s theme is Cinco de Mayo.

 

Hard Hat Happy Hour
Explore Kansas City Museum’s more than 100-year-old mansion home, Corinthian Hall, with a glass of wine. You’ll see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation and hear first-hand about plans for the grand mansion’s future from Museum Director Christopher Leitch and Museum staff. Cost is $5 Tour members must be 21 to attend. Tour will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Neighborhood Community Forum
The Kansas City Neighborhood Advisory Council will host a Neighborhood Community Forum at the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center, 3200 Wayne, Kansas City, Mo., from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Guest Speakers will include: Gina Robinson, division manager of Neighborhood Preservation; Michael Shaw, director of Solid Waste; Kansas City Legal Aid; representatives from the Land Bank of Kansas City, Missouri; and Tamara Mills, code enforcement inspector/VIP coordinator. Volunteer Code Inspector Program training will be conducted following the guest speakers, to help neighborhoods partner in reporting nuisance and abandoned properties.

 

Diet and Nutrition Presentation
Dr. Marco Brotto will give tips on how to lose weight and lead a healthier lifestyle during his presentation at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., at 1:30 p.m.

Greetings from Historic Northeast
Northeast News Publisher Michael Bushnell will give a postcard tour of a bygone era that offers views of Independence Boulevard (Kansas City’s first boulevard) and the rugged beauty of the city’s only urban scenic byway, Cliff Drive. Other featured spots include The Concourse, the Kansas City Museum and breathtaking vistas across the Missouri River Valley. The presentation will begin at 2 p.m. at the North-East Public Library.

 

Northeast Book Club
Come to the Northeast Book Group each month to share your passion for books and join in on riveting book discussions. It all begins at 2 p.m. at the North-East Library.

Wimpy Kid Club
Come and celebrate your favorite series at the North-East Library at 5 p.m.! Attendees will read from the Wimpy Kid book, act out scenes, do crafts and play games. Ages 8 to 12 are welcome.
