Area residents who purchase energy efficient appliances in Kansas City, Mo., will be able to save extra green April 19-25 as part of Missouri’s Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.

During that week, ENERGY STAR®-qualified appliances purchased in the part of Kansas City, Mo., located in Jackson County will be exempt from state and city sales tax. In addition, purchases made in the portions of Kansas City, Mo., located in Clay, Platte and Cass counties will be exempt from city, state and county sales tax.

The tax holiday applies to ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances valued at $1,500 or less. If an appliance costs more than $1,500, the first $1,500 of the purchase price will be exempt from the applicable sales tax. Qualified appliances include the following:

• Clothes washers
• Water heaters
• Dishwashers
• Air Conditioners
• Furnaces
• Refrigerators
• Freezers
• Heat pumps

There are no limits on the number of appliances that can be purchased and all purchasers are eligible for the sales tax exemptions.
