NEKC Historical Society Membership Meeting
Due to inclement weather, the Northeast Kansas City Historical Society membership meeting was rescheduled. Hard Hat Happy Hour
Explore Kansas City Museum’s more than 100-year-old mansion home, Corinthian Hall, with a glass of wine and be the first to see Kansas City Museum’s first artifact-based exhibit inside Corinthian Hall in five years, “Ours to Fight For: Kansas City During World War II.” You’ll see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation and hear first-hand about plans for the grand mansion’s future from Museum Director Christopher Leitch and Museum staff. Cost is $5 Tour members must be 21 to attend. Tour will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. This week’s theme is rainbows.

 

KC  Museum’s “Ours to Fight For” opens
The Kansas City Museum’s new exhibit, “Ours to Fight For: Kansas City During World War II” will open today and will showcase Kansas City life during WWII and war artifacts. Tours will be available on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Exhibit ends May 19.

KCPS Employment Fair
Kansas City Public Schools will host a teacher employment fair from 9 a.m. to noon at Paseo Academy, 4747 Flora Ave., Kansas City, Mo. KCPS is looking for 100 qualified teachers, paraprofessionals and teaching staff to join the district. Business attire required. Cultures Without Borders opening reception
Cultures Without Borders Traveling Art Exhibit will open on March 10 with a public reception and meet and greet with artists from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the American Heartland Theater Lobby in Crown Center, 2450 Grand Blvd., Suite 314, Kansas City, Mo. The exhibit will remain in the lobby until May 2. On May 3, the exhibit will open in its second venue at the Vine Street Studio, 2033 Vine St., Kansas City, Mo. Another reception will be held on May 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The evening will also include live jazz and cost is $5. Regular gallery hours will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Other times are by appointment, (816) 645-1052. Show closes May 31.

Newhouse Shelter Showdown
Come support Kansas City’s Newhouse, a domestic violence shelter for women and their children, during its fundraiser, “Shelter Showdown.” The fundraiser will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 13 at Boulevard Brewery, 2501 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Cost is $30 at the door or $25 in advance and includes all-you-can drink Boulevard beer, wine and pizza. Other activities will include a silent auction, college apparel for sale, basketball games on the big screens, a free throw tourney, and other activities. VFW St. Patrick’s Day Lunch
VFW Auxiliary 9997, 6801 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo., will serve reuben sandwiches and dessert March 16 for St. Patrick’s Day from 11 a.m. until they run out. A $5 donation is encouraged. The public is welcome to attend.

 

All You Can Eat Shrimp Dinner
Holy Rosary Church will host an All You Can Eat Shrimp Dinner at the Don Bosco Senior Center, 580 Campbell, Kansas City, Mo., on March 22. The dinner will also include corn, potatoes and dessert. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children eight and younger. Tickets at the door are $18.

 

St. Anthony’s St .Joseph Table
St. Anthony’s Church will host its St. Joseph Table on March 18-19 at St. Anthony’s St. Joseph Hall, 318 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Viewing of the table will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. March  18. Italian cookies, cannoli and sphingi will be for sale. Fr. Paul Turner will perform a concert of Italian chamber music at 7 p.m. with Alex Shum on violin and Ho Anthony Ahn on cello. Father Paul will play harpsichord.  On March 19, mass will be held in honor of St. Joseph at 8 a.m. followed by a blessing of the table. A pasta Milanese dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Hall.

 

Holy Cross Parish St. Joseph Table
Holy Cross Parish will host its St. Joseph Table on March 18-19 at Holy Cross Parish, 5106 St. John Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Viewing of the table will be held March 18 from noon to 5 p.m., with a blessing at 1 p.m. On March 19, lunch and dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Carry-out dinners are $3. Cookies and cannolis will be sold both days.
