Youngsters at the North-East Public Library show off their caterpillar and butterfly creations. During the weekly story time, Northeast resident and actor Ron Megee (back row, far left) read the book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” to the group. Craft time followed, where youngsters decorated egg carton caterpillars and turned coffee filters into colorful butterflies. Leslie Colins

Getting crafty. Area youngsters squirt water on their coffee filters to create a watercolor effect. The North-East Public Library librarian helped the youngsters turn their masterpieces into butterflies. Pipe cleaners, egg cartons and other doodads were used to create caterpillars. The library holds a weekly story time and craft hour every Friday at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd., at 10:30 a.m. Every week features a new theme. For more pictures, visit www.northeastnews.net.
