Anthony Michael Rizzo, 90, Columbus Park area, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at NorthCare Hospice House. Tony’s wish was to be cremated.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 28 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 911 E. Missouri Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Inurnment will followed in Mt. Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Rosary Church or NorthCare Hospice House.

Tony was born January 9, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo. He owned and operated Rizzo Bus Co. for many years. He was a proud family man and was very dedicated to his Catholic faith. He was a member of Cardinal Glennon Council 4613 of the Knights of Columbus, and was a former member of the Independence, Mo., Planning & Zoning Board. Tony was known to say that he was born in the North End and would die in the North End.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calogero and Dominica (Gulotta) Rizzo; and sons, Greg Rizzo and Frank Rizzo.

Tony is survived by his wife of 70 years, JoAnn Rizzo; sons and daughter-in-law, Henry and Silvia Rizzo, John Rizzo; daughter-in-law, Teresa Rizzo; grandchildren, Tony Mike Rizzo and wife Stephanie, State Representative John Joseph Rizzo and wife Lindsay; great-grandsons, Henry and Anthony Rizzo; and nieces and nephews, Josephine Fazzino, Carl Bua, and Mike and JoAnn Bua.

Tony was loved by many and will be missed by his family and friends.
