Story Time and Craft

Here ye! Here ye! All Fairies and Nymphs! The Kansas City Shakespeare Festival will join the North-East Public Library at 10:30 a.m. for story time for a special Midsummer Night’s Dream craft, story and creative drama activity.

Museum Director’s Hard Hat Tour
Join the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., for a Director’s Hard Hat Tour at 12:30 p.m. Take an extended hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Museum Director Christopher Leitch. Cost is $5.

 

Computer Class
Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving e-mail, as well as how to organize your messages. It all begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.

Indian Mound Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting at the North-East Public Library at 6:30 p.m.

ESL 13-week Course

Gardening class
Mattie Rhodes Center, 148 N. Topping Ave., Kansas City, Mo., is hosting a five-week gardening class at the Center which began Jan. 22. The weekly classes will be held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. and are free of charge. Receive training and support on how to develop a small vegetables market booth at a local farmer’s market. NE Chamber of Commerce Luncheon
The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly luncheon at Pho Hoa Noodle Soup, 1447 Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Agenda will include the I-70 study and the Kansas City Urban Design Center students, who are studying the Independence Avenue corridor and creating design elements for the Avenue. Women’s Self Defense Class

Kansas City Design Center Charette
Learn more about the Kansas City Design Center’s project regarding the Independence Avenue corridor. KCDC students will discuss their urban vision study of the Avenue beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at the North-East Public Library. Another charette will be held at the library at 5:30 p.m. on April 15.

 

Newhouse Shelter Showdown
Come support Kansas City’s Newhouse, a domestic violence shelter for women and their children, during its fundraiser, “Shelter Showdown.” The fundraiser will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 13 at Boulevard Brewery, 2501 Southwest Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Cost is $30 at the door or $25 in advance and includes all-you-can drink Boulevard beer, wine and pizza. Other activities will include a silent auction, college apparel for sale, basketball games on the big screens, a free throw tourney, and other activities.
