KCPS is seeking students, parents, employees, and community members to serve on its re-launched Safety Committee.
The Safety Committee is being created in accordance with procedures established by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The committee is required to meet at least twice annually to review and monitor the status of safety within our schools, and to promote an environment that supports our goal of increased student achievement. The committee is also responsible for identifying resources, equipment, and recommending effective policies and practices to minimize violence and other safety-related challenges in the schools.
Interested parties may complete an on-line application by visiting www.kcpublicschools.org. Hard copy applications are available at the KCPS Board of Education, 1211 McGee St., Kansas City, Mo., as well as all KCPS schools beginning Monday, Feb. 4. The deadline to submit an application is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.
