The Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline, Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for several recent thefts from police vehicles.

The crimes took place Jan. 6 and involved four KCPD and two Jackson County Sheriff’s vehicles which were parked in the area of 75th and Lee’s Summit Road in south Kansas City. Items stolen included a rifle, shotgun, duffle bags and documents. Kansas City police recovered some equipment which was dumped nearby. Police believe the thieves were mainly seeking guns and ammo.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)’s Kansas City Field Division has added an additional reward of up to $5,000 in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Crime Commission, Crime Stoppers and local law enforcement.  Information provided anonymously through the TIPS Hotline could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $6,000 should an arrest be made.
