This crafty canine was super surprised to see our weekly print product used in a recent ad campaign for Great Plains SPCA, a local no-kill animal shelter located in Merriam, Kan. The ad in question ran in the Nov. 14 issue of Ink magazine and depicts a cat sitting on a front porch after it had dutifully fetched the newspaper for its master. The newspaper the frisky feline fetched? The Northeast News, of course.

The photography work was done by local guy Ron Berg, and Meers Advertising put the piece together for the shelter. The tag line is: “Adopt a Dog.”

Great Plains SPCA used to be called Animal Haven and was the beneficiary of a number of donations from our house. This newshound would like to throw out a big thank you to the great folks at Meers Advertising as well as Ron Berg and the great artists who put our publication on the forefront for a great cause. We’re honored and humbled that someone thought enough of our newspaper to include it in such a worthy campaign.
