This newshound has study fatigue. Seems every group has a project that needs to be studied to determine its viability. This federally funded project needs to be studied. That project needs to be studied. Enough with the studies, let’s see some dog-gone action on some of these long studied, never started “shovel ready” projects!

The latest and greatest is – wait for it, a streetcar line along Independence Avenue. The “proposed” line would run from the River Market area to roughly Topping Avenue, a four mile spur off the original two-mile “starter” track that hasn’t even gotten off the planning table yet. This fiscally conservative news-dog will go on the record here and now and say we need a streetcar line down Independence Avenue like a fish needs a bicycle.

Here’s a novel idea – try putting all that cash that was dedicated to a needless streetcar line and put it toward real infrastructure improvements, like curbs, sidewalks and streets. Wow! Real infrastructure improvements instead of pie in the sky streetcars with no riders. Now there’s a concept this dog can really get her teeth into.
