Those with unwanted electronics will have a chance to recycle them this Saturday during “The Responsible Electronics Recycling Event” at Arrowhead Stadium, 1 Arrowhead Dr., Kansas City, Mo.

Sponsored by Vintage Tech Recyclers, the event allows residents to drop off their electronics and recycle most of them for free. Vintage Tech will ensure that all electronics are properly handled and will wipe out hard drive data with NIST 800-88 compliant software.

Electronics that will be accepted free of charge include:
Computers, Laptops, Monitors, LCD’s, Cell Phones, Printers, Scanners, Modems, CD drives, Cables, Keyboards, Mice, TV’s, VCR’s, DVD players, Camcorders, Cameras, Game Players and joysticks; Telephones, Pagers, Answering Machines, Typewriters, Calculators, adding machines, Fax machines, Copiers and Postage meters, Vacuum Cleaners, Toaster Ovens, Microwaves.

For tube televisions, the cost to recycle is $15 and for wooden console and DLP-Rear Projection televisions, the fee is $25.

Items that will not be accepted include:
Lightbulbs, Mercury Containing Devices, Alkaline Batteries, Fluorescents, Household Chemicals, Toys, Books, Paint.

Area residents are invited to drop off their electronics from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.
