La Chalupa Farmer’s Market
Mattie Rhodes Community Center, 148 N. Topping, will host La Chalupa Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mattie Rhodes parking lot. EBT/SNAP cards will get extra dollars for local produce.

 

Bead Making
Kids ages 8 and up are invited to attend North-East Public Library’s bead making class at 5 p.m. Design your own clay beads!

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Dunamos Free Outdoor Event
Dunamos, a ministry of music and power, will host a free outdoor event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse, 1300 Askew. Activities will include prizes, food and special speaker who’s won six world and six national titles in weight lifting.

 

Don Bosco Employee Fundraiser
A Don Bosco Senior Center employee recently had a stroke and friends are hosting a fundraiser which will include Cuban cuisine, live music, crafts and more at the Senior Center, 580 Campbell St., beginning at 5 p.m.

Holy Cross Parish Festival
The Holy Cross Parish Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the soccer field at 5106 St. John Ave. Activities will include food, games, music, clowns and prizes.

 

Spaghetti Dinner
The Deacons of Independence Boulevard Christian Church will serve a spaghetti dinner immediately following the 10:45 a.m. service. A vegetarian option will also be available. Cost is $5. Children 12 and under are free. The church is located at Independence and Gladstone in Kansas City, Mo.

 

Hard hat tours
Take a 90-minute tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Kansas City Museum Director Christopher Leitch. Advance registration is required and cost is $5. Tour begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

 

Walk and Talk Tours

NEKC Chamber Grand Re-opening
The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host a grand re-opening Sept. 20 for Late Model Auto Parts, 5420 E. 10th. The grand re-opening celebration will be in conjunction with the Chamber’s after hours event, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p..m. at Late Model Auto. Appetizers and beverages will be served.

 

Community Curator Series
This month’s Kansas City Museum’s Community Curator program will explore the Museum’s Nuestra Herencia (Our Heritage) initiative and archive of Dos Mundos with Dos Mundos publisher Ed Reyes. The free event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing Rd.
