Museum Kids Summer Drop-ins
The Kansas City Museum will host its summer drop-in program on Wednesdays and Fridays in August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is free. Drop in with your child for games, music, stories and arts & crafts.

 

Pendleton Heights Swing Night
Pendleton Heights is hosting beginner swing dancing lessons at a new location, the Scuola Vita Nuova gymnasium, 544 Wabash Ave., Kansas City, Mo. No partner is needed and class will last 45 minutes to an hour. All are invited to attend. Cost is $5. Swing lessons will be held the third Wednesday of every month.

 

America’s Lost Treasures
National Geographic’s Kansas City episode of America’s Lost Treasures, which filmed at Union Station and the Kansas City Museum, will air on Nat Geo at 9 p.m. One of Northeast’s very own is featured on the episode.

Google Fiber Northeast Regional Meeting
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Negro League Baseball Museum are hosting a Google Fiber Northeast Regional Meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Museum, 1616 E. 18th St., Kansas City, Mo. This event will answer questions about Google Fiber and focus on possibilities that Fiber could bring to Northeast KC. Other topics will include community unity, connectivity, bridging the digital divide and development.

 

La Chalupa Farmer’s Market
Mattie Rhodes Community Center, 148 N. Topping, will host La Chalupa Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mattie Rhodes parking lot. EBT/SNAP cards will get extra dollars for local produce.

 

Million Dollar Movie
Check out North-East Public Library’s “Million Dollar Movie” at 10 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd. This week’s movie is “J Edgar.”

 

Thurs-Day Dreamin’
Join North-East Public Library,
6000 Wilson Rd., at 4:30 p.m. for Thurs-Day Dreamin’. Each Thursday will feature a creative activity ranging from games to crafts to workshops to movies and more! Most enjoyed by Tweens and Teens.

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. This story time group promotes literacy in children with the participation of caring family members. This week’s theme is “Sidewalk Chalk Celebration.”

In the Pink of the Evening Summer Concert Series
Northeast Arts KC’s next installment of its summer concert series will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Colonnade at Concourse Park. The free concert will also include a round-up of area food truck vendors along Gladstone Boulevard. Featured band will be Rex Hobart and the Honky Tonk Standards.

 

FitNFine
Learn about healthy habits to help you maintain a healthy weight during North-East Public Library’s FitNFine. Class begins at 1:30 p.m. at the library.

Sunday Family Movie
Check out North-East Public Library’s Sunday Family Movie at the library at 2 p.m. This week’s movie is “Tooth Fairy 2.”

 

Hard Hat Tours
Take a 90-minute tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Kansas City Museum Director Christopher Leitch. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will examine 100-year-old craftsmanship, see the ornate salon and library and view the exquisite stained glass windows. Advance registration is required and cost is $5. Tour begins at 12:30 p.m.

Community Resource Fair
A Community Resource Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Blue Valley Park, 23rd and Topping. The event is being hosted by the Penny Mill Foundation and activities will include special speakers, games, horse show, music, face painting, free food and giveaways. The goal of the fair is to link persons in need of assistance with organizations that can help them in a casual and non-threatening environment.

 

Knights of Columbus Karaoke
Join Knights of Columbus Council 4613 for a night of karaoke, dance and music from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, 3208 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Food will be available for purchase.
