Koop garden w: scare crows.tif
More than 50 water gardens were on tour during the July 7-8 Annual Water Garden Tour sponsored by the Water Garden Society of Greater Kansas City. Gardens ranged from private gardens to nature centers. Two of the gardens were located in Northeast, including the St. John Gardens Community Garden pictured above. Owned by local artist Rebecca Koop, the community garden has 10 active gardeners. The scene above is a recreation of the painting “American Gothic.” Curtis Padilla’s water garden located at 3923 Sunrise Drive was also on the tour. This year, Padilla added a chicken coup to his backyard. Photos by Leslie Collins
