Rev. Sharon Kay Garfield

Rev. Sharon Kay Garfield, age 68, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home.

Sharon was born June 30, 1945 at Watseka, Illinois, one of the four children of Earl and Velma (Tuttle) Garfield. She moved with her family to Lamar in 1948.  After graduating from Lamar High School, Sharon earned a bachelor’s degree from Park College and a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. She then embarked on a life-long calling in United Methodist Church ministry, much of it in inner city missions. Serving in Kansas City for more than forty years, Sharon was on staff at Grace United Community Ministries, was CEO of Mission Agency, established and worked at the

    David Lee White, 56, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Jan. 20, 2014. Arrangements are by Heartland Cremation & Burial Society.

    David was born Oct. 13, 1957, in Kansas City. He worked at Town Topic as a fry cook for 41 years.

    He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl Wayne White Sr. and Alice (Riffe); brother, Earl Wayne White Jr.; sister, Patricia White and Diana White-Bunyan.

    Jonathan Brandon Taylor-Flores, 11, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Jan. 18, 2014. Visitation was held Jan. 23 at Newcomer’s Noland Rd. Chapel, Independence, Mo. Funeral services followed at the chapel.

    Clyde Finley, 54, of Northeast Kansas City passed away Jan. 4, 2014.

    Clyde was a lifelong Northeast resident. He attended Northeast High School and was a Union pipefitter for Local 533 for approximately 10 years.

    He is proceeded in death by his father, George Finley. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Janet Finley; and Zabrina Reek (Vince), Jennifer Floyd (Stephanie), Trey Floyd (Amy) and David Finley.

    Jack Lloyd Ratliff

    Jack Lloyd Ratliff, 62, Kansas City, Mo., passed away Dec. 26, 2013, and was laid to rest in Mount Washington Cemetery on Dec. 31, 2013.

    He was born in Brookfield, Mo., on May 21, 1951, and lived in Historic Northeast Kansas City. Jack graduated from Northeast High School in 1969 and attended several local colleges. He was employed at Shor-Line Manufacturing as a project designer. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

    Frank Spinello, 96, Northeast Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Visitation and a funeral service were held Dec. 12 at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery. Frank was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., to Thomas and Mary (Oliso) Spinello. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII. Frank was owner and operator of Northeast Key Shop on Independence Avenue for more than 40 years.
