Kansas City Museum – history of the R.A. Long family
Every Wednesday-Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the Kansas City Museum (3218 Gladstone) offers free docent-guided tours of the first floor of Corinthian Hall and the first floor of the Carriage House. These tours begin in the Carriage House. Visitors learn about the history and legacy of the Long family and of the Kansas City Museum.

Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pilgrim Run 5K and Walk – Thursday, Nov. 24
Get your Thanksgiving started early with a 5K on Thanksgiving morning, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Chapel (38th and Gillham). Enjoy a fun 5K walk or run through historic Hyde Park in midtown Kansas City. Proceeds from this event benefit the Children’s Programs of the Pilgrim Center.

19th Annual Chiefs Blood Drive
On Friday, November 25, the Kansas City Chiefs will host a special blood drive at Arrowhead Stadium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where donors can meet and take pictures with running back Charcandrick West (3:00pm – 4:00pm), former Chiefs players, Chiefs cheerleaders, and everyone’s favorite mascot, K.C. Wolf. All guests will be able to tour Arrowhead Stadium. The blood drive will continue at six Community Blood Center (CBC) locations throughout Missouri and Kansas until Friday, December 2. In Kansas City, those interested in giving blood can go to the CBC location at 4040 Main Street.
Publisher Basics at Central Library
Come out to the Central branch (14 W. 10th St.) of the Kansas City Public Library on Friday, November 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. to learn the basics of Publisher by making customized greeting cards. Call 816-701-3434 to register for the event.

KC Museum’s KCFD history exhibit still open
The Kansas City Museum (3218 Gladstone) is now presenting In the Line of Duty: A History of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department from 1868-1968, an exhibition that explores stories of courage and dedication that comprise the heritage and development of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department (KCFD). From its humble beginnings in the late 1800s to international fame, and from technological triumphs to tragic losses, the KCFD has over 100 years of proud service to its community.

Computer Class – Microsoft
Join North-East Public Library for a class on the fundamentals of Microsoft Word, which will focus on templates as well as the various menu options. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Heart Healthy Screening at North-East Library
Stop by the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Rd.) on Monday, November 28 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for a health screening. No appointment is necessary, and the screenings shouldn’t take long.

Story time at Central Library
Join the Kansas City Public Library’s Central Branch on Tuesday, November 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for stories, songs, and plenty of time for play. Library guests talk, sing, read, write and play every day, but Tuesdays are special. Parking is Free!

KC Water Services Community Conversation – Nov. 30
The Kansas City Water Services department invites Northeast residents to a community conversation on Wednesday, November 30, at Avenue Family Church (522 Jackson Ave.). On December 1, KC Water will begin conducting smoke testing in the Northeast to find sources of rainwater entering the sewer system. The smoke testing is part of the Northeast Area and Gooseneck Creek Neighborhood Sewer Rehabilitation Project, which aims to restore the sewer collection system. KC Water Services will provide coffee and donuts as they update the community about when smoke testing will occur in your neighborhood, what to expect during smoke testing, and more.

Knights of Columbus Dinner/Bingo
The Knight’s of Columbus Council #4613 will host its next dinner/bingo night on Friday, December 2 at St. Joseph Hall (3208 Lexington, KCMO). Attendees can enjoy an Italian steak sandwich, fries and a salad for $8. Dinner will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; bingo will run from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Coffee is free, while drinks and desserts are also available for an additional charge.

Kansas City Museum’s Annual Holiday Party – Dec. 2
The Kansas City Museum’s Annual Holiday Party will be held on Friday, December 2, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The party will include refreshments and light snacks in Corinthian Hall, a performance by the Lyric Opera, and the announcement of the Fairy Princesses and Fairy Princess Costume Contest Winners from Halloween. From 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on December 2, Kansas City Museum Executive Director Anna Marie Tutera will be conducting a special Director’s Making a Museum Tour from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
